Are you an experienced Forestry professional looking to grow your career and make a difference? If so, we may have the role for you! We are currently looking for an Area Forester who will strive to ensure the sustainability of forest resources through the review and auditing of tenure based forest management planning and operations in the Peace River forest area.

As the Area Forester you will play a key role in the monitoring of industry planning, silvicultural activities and forest operations to ensure their adherence to forest management agreements, quota agreements and related policies and legislation. You will also be accountable for working with timber management companies in an assigned area to support development and implementation of Detailed Forest Management Plans and operational ground rules. Other responsibilities will include communicating sustainable forest management principles to various stakeholders, completing the operational auditing of FMA’s and operations, monitoring and ensuring compliance of forest management activities on crown land, providing guidance and advice to forest officers, assisting with policy development and implementation, project planning, completing related administrative functions and acting as an area representative whenrequired. When necessary, you will also participate in the forest protection and forest health programs.

Salary: $2,722.90- $3,516.82 bi-weekly ($71,068 – $91,789 annually) Closing Date: February 25, 2016. Job ID # 1034254.

Qualifications: A degree in Forestry or related field supplemented with a minimum of four years directly related experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Professional Foresters and a valid class 5 driver’s license is also required. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
