Environmental Technician

Mistik Environmental Services Ltd. is a small consulting company with a diverse client group located in the Slave Lake area. Currently we are recruiting the services of an Environmental Technician for various projects that we currently are working on and future projects moving forward.

We are looking for a field oriented employee to work with our permanent staff in all duties pertaining to projects that Mistik staff are currently working on. This position is a 10-month term position with possibility of extension depending on future project workload. Key duties include vegetation assessments on utility corridors in various locations across Alberta.

The ideal candidate would have:

 Tree mensuration experience including pathological indicators (height, diameter and age measurements)

 Knowledge of site factor measurements (slope, slope position and aspect)

 Experience using Trimble or Juniper GPS units and an understanding of GIS concepts

 Experience in various aspects of environmental site assessments would be considered beneficial

. Experience orienteering by map, photo, and compass and willingness to work in a field environment including camp locations at times

 Ideally possess the following safety tickets: WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, ATV Training, and Snowmobile Safety.

 A valid driver’s license is required and must supply a driver abstract.

 Candidates with any level of post-secondary environmental or forestry education will be considered for these positions.
