Professional Development Candidate

Canadian Timberlands Division (Weyerhaeuser Company Limited) is looking to welcome two highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Professional Development Candidates (PDC). 

Our PDC program provides a limited pool of talented candidates that can be accessed from all operating areas to meet staffing needs as appropriate, and assignments will be managed through career path opportunities. Each candidate must be willing to work across several teams to ensure variety of exposure/experience is available and business needs are met, which may require relocation. 

As your career progresses, every effort will be made to match career and personal goals. We will select and place the most qualified employees in full time entry-level assignments and, as additional openings become available (12 to 18 month timeframe) and based on readiness, promote these individuals into those future vacancies, commensurate with performance and experience. Once a higher level, fixed position becomes available as a regular full time assignment, Professional Development Candidates would be expected to accept and potentially relocate to wherever the vacancy is located within our Canadian Timberlands Teams. 

Qualifications

We are accepting applications from those possessing the following:

  • Formal post-secondary education in Forestry, including BSc in Forestry, Forest Technicians or Forestry or Natural Resource related fields.
  • Preference given with those individuals that are able to register or are already registered as an RPF or RPFT in the province of AB
  • Previous forestry work experience is a definite asset
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license

Additional valued qualifications are:

  • Strong safety values and behaviors
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Physical capacity for field work including ATV operation
  • Understanding of sound environmental practices
  • High comfort level with working and traveling in remote forestland areas
  • Self-directed team player
  • Willingness to relocate to other Canadian Timberlands locations for permanent employment.
