Mechanical Engineer

Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer provides both mechanical and project engineering support to the pulp mill.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for optimization of existing processes and equipment.
  • Assist in providing preliminary project scoping, specifications and estimating for anticipated work.
  • Plan, coordinate and complete mechanical engineering design work requests.
  • Review technology applications for compliance with codes and standards.
  • Provide project management leadership for the delivery of capital and major maintenance improvements.
  • Provide support in the troubleshooting of chronic reliability issues.
  • As a team member in the Engineering Department, work to accomplish the goals of the department
  • Support Weyerhaeuser’s safety values as both a leader and an employee

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have an Mechanical Engineering Degree and will be eligible for immediate registration in APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
  • The individual will have working knowledge of piping design, equipment specifications, and ASME 31.1 & 31.3 codes .

 In addition the candidate will require:

  • A strong commitment to working safely and protecting the safety of others
  • Experience working in a plant environment – preference if Pulpmill experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in AutoCAD & MSProject an asset
  • Ability to advance into a people leadership role
