Summer Students & Term Positions

We are looking to hire two summer students (4 months) with the possibility of extensions to assist our annual operation and silviculture programs. Under the supervision of Forest Professionals, the selected candidates will gain hands on experience in all fields of forestry.

As summer staff, your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of a 2 million seedling tree plant
  • Harvest Cut Block & Road layout
  • Planting Checks
  • Pre-harvest or reconnaissance inspections (wood quality & volume)
  • Establishment & Performance Surveys
  • Harvest and log quality inspection (assist in scaling)
  • Chemical tending stand delineation
  • GPS Data collection
  • Monitoring of Mountain Pine Beetle traps
  • Road & bridge maintenance, inspections
  • Survival Surveys
  • Road patrol

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Be enrolled in a Forest Science or Related post-secondary degree/ diploma program
  • Enjoy working outdoors with a strong willingness to learn
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and standard First Aid Certificate
  • Prior Forestry experience (GPS navigation, surveys, layout, and supervision) is considered an asset.
  • Familiar with ArcMap, MS Word/Excel
