RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Slave Lake Pulp, a modern 240,000 TPY BCTMP mill, located 2.5 hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta is currently looking to hire a full time Reliability Engineer. SLP is located 20 kms east of the town of Slave Lake, Alberta which boasts the second largest lake in the province, renowned for its sports fishing and stretches of natural sandy beaches. The town of 7,000 has all the amenities of a larger center yet maintains the outdoor lifestyle of a small community.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, the role of the Reliability Engineer is to develop & implement best practices, reliability systems, equipment design and implement best in class technology to help support our operation and maintenance departments achieve excellence in reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Civil or Mechanical Engineering (eligible for P.Eng) and/or Professional Reliability Experience;
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work within a multi-discipline environment;
  • Be proficient in the use of CMMS systems and engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project);
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required;
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a heavy manufacturing environment;
  • Experience with rotating equipment and hydraulics; and,
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is an asset.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the mill predictive maintenance program;
  • Develop and implement a strategic reliability plan;
  • Build failure prevention plans for critical equipment;
  • Build infrastructure around reliability systems;
  • Redesign equipment that has repetitive failures;
  • Root Cause Analysis team leader;
  • Asset Management;
  • Owner of KPI database;
  • Build/improve reports to assist in managing reliability; and,
  • Other duties, as required.
